The Avengers Movie & Action Figures

With Joss Whedon's The Avengers due to be release soon I wanted to create a Hub page focused on the up coming movie, including trailers, news, interviews etc but also a place on the web where you can find cool Avengers actions figures and related merchandise from the movie. Here you will also find collectibles and toys relating to the original Marvel comic books super heroes.

Below is a talk by Joss Whedon during ComicCon 2011 about The Avengers film.

Nick Fury Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Supreme Headquarters International Espionage Law-enforcement Division) a secret international peace keeping agency, brings together a team of super humans forming "The Avengers". The agency is the who's who of Super Heroes, with the team consisting of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and the Black Widow. When global security is threatened by an invading army lead by Loki, a god like being and the adopted brother of Thor, Nick Fury and his team of Avengers are forced into action in order to save the world from disaster using all their combined powers.

The Marvel's Super Hero Mashers Avengers set is a great collection of action figures that are more straight out of the cartoons then the movie. The Marvel's Super Hero Mashers Avengers pack is a limited edition set which includes 5 super heroes and contains 44 pieces.

Included action figures are:

• Captain America
• Hulk
• Thor
• Iron Man
• Vision

As the name suggests each of the action figure comes apart as individual pieces which you can then mash-ups your favorite superheroes into any hundreds of combinations. Each figure also includes their unique weapons. I like this set of action figures because of its unique look, the figures are less detailed and more cartoon/comic like, The hulk is especially a favorite. The style of play is certainly different and will provide hours of entertain for kids. Kind of like a combination of Lego and regular action figures. You can even increase the fun by addition other Masher sets to your combination which will just create endless combinations of mash-ups. The only issues i see with this set is the size of some of the pieces which may be chocking hazard for younger children and as well as depending on how rough they are treated the individual pieces may no longer snap collect properly. But then again you should have plenty of replacement hands & legs to choose from.

This Iron Man Mark VII ARTFX statue is a 1/6 scale reproduction of Iron Man from The Avengers movie made by Kotobukiya. The statue stands nearly 33 cm tall including the road concert georama base. Made using new 3D sculpting technology this figure includes more fine detailing than previous handsculpted figures. The paint works is exceptional in this series and may even out do other statues at higher price ranges.

This Iron Man Mark VII is quick assembly and come with snap-fit parts. Other features includes LED light up eyes and chest-mounted arc reactor. Unfortunately the hand repulsor do not light up which would have made this statue more impressive. The switch for the LED lights are also hidden in the shoulder and has three different modes: Continues on, Off and a motion detector.

More details can be found in the unboxing video below and on Amazon this item has received overly positive reviews. Especially on the detailed look and paint works with this ARTFX statue for its asking price.

This The Kotobukiya's ARTFX+ Hulk Statue is 1/10 scale figure is just under 10 Inch tall standing on his two magnetic display base. It is also the first statue in the Marvel Now series made based on The Avengers movie. Other Avengers included in this collection include Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor and Hawkeye.

The Marvel Now Hulk was based on concept artwork by superstar artist Adi Granov. It has fantastically detailed with an intricate paint job showing musculature down to his veins and the emotion on his face highlighting The Hulks rage. As with all Kotobukiya's statues assemble is easy with their snap and fit system.
